In June 2025, five dedicated members of the TIS Smile Club joined Operation Smile Ghana on a life-changing medical mission at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, offering free cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries to children and families in need.
The mission brought together medical professionals from Ghana, the USA, and other countries, part of the Operation Smile International team, who travelled to different regions in Ghana to deliver expert care and restore smiles.
Our students had the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across various departments: from assisting in pre-surgery screenings, supporting with administrative tasks, to engaging with young patients through play therapy, working alongside psychologists and volunteers. For many, it was a firsthand glimpse into the medical field and the power of compassion in action.
Beyond the medical work, students learned about advocacy and community outreach. As part of their ongoing commitment, members of the TIS Smile Club continue to raise awareness, fundraise for surgeries, and volunteer to support the work of Operation Smile Ghana.
With ASA sign-ups approaching, we encourage all students to consider joining the TIS Smile Club. It’s more than just volunteering; it’s a chance to gain meaningful experience in the medical field, create lasting impact, and grow as a leader with purpose.
